On September 26, 2025, The Promotion and Economic Development of the Six Mekong River Basin Countries Trade Association, led by Mr. Krittakorn Uttamo, Secretary-General of the Association, together with Mr. Chutchawan Apirukmonkong, Member of Parliament for Khon Kaen Province, and a delegation of business representatives from the Northeastern region, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Dinh Hoang Linh, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Khon Kaen Province.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as business connectivity between Thailand and Vietnam.
The discussion focused on exploring trade and investment opportunities in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), particularly in logistics, agriculture, industry, and cross-border e-commerce, as well as strengthening cooperation between the private sectors of both countries to enhance competitiveness and expand markets across ASEAN.
Mr. Krittakorn Uttamo stated, “The Association places great importance on building regional economic networks, particularly the cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam, which plays a vital role in driving sustainable economic development in the Mekong Subregion.”
Mr. Chutchawan Apirukmonkong, Member of Parliament for Khon Kaen, added, “Thailand’s Northeastern region has high potential to serve as the regional hub for trade and logistics. Strengthening cooperation with Vietnam will help Thai entrepreneurs access new markets and create joint investment opportunities in the future.”
This courtesy visit marks another significant milestone for the Association in fostering closer relations and expanding economic opportunities between Thailand and Vietnam, as part of the strategy to promote balanced and sustainable development among the six Mekong River Basin countries.
